MINDANAO RURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM (MRDP): EFFECTS TO THE BENEFICIARIES

Abstract


The study looks into the effects of Mindanao Rural Development Program (MRDP) among the beneficiaries in the Province of Zamboanga del Sur. The descriptive survey method of research was used and quantitative assessment was utilized. The interview techniques and informal dialogues with the Local Government Officials and members of the project proponents were done. Likewise, it also engaged frequent unscheduled conversation with the different personalities involved in the program to gather update of the program implementation. Data mining technique was also used together with series of Focus Group Discussions (FGD) to confirm the validity of the data gathered. The data and information served as basis for in-depth analysis and interpretation. Results revealed that the MRDP implemented different programswithdifferent phases, components and budgetary requirements. The income profile of the respondents prior to and after the implementation of the MRDP was of different levels and all of the recipients’ income increased after the implementation. The researcher concludes that Mindanao Rural Development Project (MRDP) is a government endeavor which successfully decreases poverty incidence in the area.
